I love Disney, like REALLY, REALLY love Disney. Don’t believe me? Ask my husband, he’s been taking me there since we started dating over 7 years ago.
It was a dream to be able to photograph families there and I’m so happy to have had the opportunity. Since January, we’ve been booking and planning these. After lots of trips, logistics and preparations, the weekend finally arrived and 10 families joined in on the fun. Two days of minis were done and here is the first of them. I decided to split the blog posts so that it would be easier to read and load. I’ll share some info of how the day went along for some fun behind-the-scenes info.
When I woke up that morning I was happy to see that there wasn’t a lot of light coming in through my hotel window. I smiled. It was an overcast day! Yes, this is actually a good thing in the photography world. I ran over to the window and nearly passed out. It was FOGGY, not just a little bit foggy, but the type of fog that you can’t see 15 feet in front of you. I prayed and hoped it would clear and guess what? It cleared. THANK GOD! Not completely, but enough that I was able to get the castle and other things and the background and it not be noticeable. The morning remained overcast, but still good. Here are some of my favorite shots of little Gary with his perfect little smile and parents…
The second family to join was the Marrero family. The three kiddies were too funny. One was trying to act like the serious guy, the other only smiled if grandpa told him and Miss Minnie Mouse who liked to pucker her lips a lot. They were troopers for herding through the park without any distractions.
The last family to join me in the morning was the Diaz family. Brooke and her parents were so much fun. She enjoyed watching the Mickey show in front of the castle while taking pics and eating a giant Mickey apple. How cute is she?
So right after this session, my hubby and I took a lunch break, rested and enjoyed some of the big rides, like Space Mountain, that we haven’t been able to since we visit Disney with the kids. Everything had gone so smoothly in the morning and despite the heat, I was ecstatic. The kids were attentive, the families were having a good time and the weather was great despite the fog.
We gathered ourselves for the afternoon round and headed to the meeting location a bit early. As we’re waiting… it happened, the sound every photographer dreads when being on location to shoot: thunder, really, really loud thunder. I said no way. Of course there was a way! It wouldn’t be as much fun without a little twist to my day. As my first of the afternoon sessions arrived it started to pour, A LOT! So, here is where the fun and chaos began…
This adorable couple arrived all dolled up and ready to go. We got about 3 shots before we had to run for our lives. As it started slowing down, Stephany showed me this adorable little bubble umbrella she brought and of course we HAD to use it.
Right after this shot, I had to run to the next appointment and do the other session since it was their time. I then ran back to them to finish it up between the last two sessions. The ironic part? This may be one of my favorite sessions of the weekend 😉
I couldn’t decide which one I liked best! Love both the color and black and white one.
Oh, so then the rain started to slow down… haha yeah right! Lui and his hysterical family arrived and oh it got even funner! Lui falls asleep, doesn’t want to wake up. What do we do? Let him sleep? OF COURSE NOT! Let’s stick him in puddles and take pictures!!! (I’m literally laughing out load as I type this). Man, was he such a good boy. No one would know that he was wet from head to toe in these pics! This session took me the longest to edit since 90 percent of them there was an arm holding him but I loved how they turned out! What great memories for his family!
Last but not least, the Ordonez Family joined the fun. Thankfully, the rain FINALLY stopped. Everything was wet but we worked with it. We danced, smiled and sang the entire time and Bella did a special little “Yo Gabba Gabba” Dance for all of us 😉
I hope you all enjoyed these because they were a blast to shoot. I will be posting the second part of Disney Minis in the next couple of days.
Until next time! See you real soon, dolls!
