I can’t believe my last little love turned 1. I never imagined that she would be part of our lives, but I’m so happy she is! She made us fall in love with her from the moment we saw her sweet, rosy, chunky little face, and she’s been nothing but sweetness ever since. I was so silly to think when my daughter Kailey was born that my life was “complete”. Like the saying says, “If you want to make God laugh, tell him your plans”. He had other plans for us and we couldn’t be any more grateful for what He had in store for us.
I will never forget picking up my camera in the hospital to take some quick photos of Khloe in her little clear bed near the window. (You can see those shots and some of her newborn photos here.) As I was doing so, I noticed the light hitting her eyes and told my husband, “I think she is going to have light eyes”. My husband looked at me like I was insane and said, “NO WAY! I can’t deal with a blue-eyed little girl”. Well, well, well guess what color her eyes turned out to be? HAHA
Some of you may remember my daughter Kailey’s 1st Birthday session, but if you missed it, here it is. I went a little crazy with props and outfits for her. This time around I wanted something special for my tiniest princess, but I also knew with 3 kids, time was not on my side. I came up with 3 different themes and went for it.
First up, I purchased these lace-backed window panes for my Easter Minis that just passed and I decided to use them for some of her photos. I wanted to do these at a park but with the logistics of carrying all of it, finding baby sitters for the older two and dealing with a cranky, sick baby, I knew my backyard was my best option. About a week before her birthday I decided to just do it. I ran to Party City and bought balloons, ran home, set it all up, rushed everything back inside because it was about to start pouring, and had one of my bestie’s pick up my older daughter from daycare because I was running late to pick her up. I set this all up against my fence, with the view of my neighbor’s backyard. With a little bit of photoshop magic to remove the fence, I made it happen! Here are just a few of my favorite moments…
After setting up and taking down all of the above, I was beat. So phases 2 and 3 would take place on another date. Her birthday party theme was “Ice Cream”. I really wanted to incorporate the theme into her photos because she really likes ice cream as well. Thanks to Miami’s crazy weather, it was actually a wee bit too cold on the morning of her second session. The idea was to do all of the ice cream photos outdoors but Mother Nature (and Khloe’s constant crying) changed those plans for me. We did get a few cute ones at the park, but she quickly started consistently crying, not liking the cold weather. We had to suspend the rest of the session outdoors. Later in the day I decided to set up my home studio and get the shots I had been wanting and I ended up LOVING how they came out! What do you all think?
Finally, on the day of her actual birthday we did a cake smash. The super sweet Stephanie from The Sweet House Desserts made her cake for her cake smash and her party and it was just so perfect! I wanted something super simple but cute (of course). She loved playing with the cake, but really only put it in her mouth once. She gave me great smiles though 😉
I did have another outfit for her that I have yet to photograph her in so that will be happening soon. Thank you again to all of your amazing fans that follow and share in all of my children’s growth and can relate to how amazing this life is with our little ones.
